Untapped potential

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

The Great Commission of the Lord Jesus can seem overwhelming to many Christians. It must have been for the disciples as they listened to those last words of Jesus before He ascended to heaven. He showed them a vision to reach the world and they realized that it was up to them to respond and carry out His mission.

Many Christians and churches have heard the last words of Jesus and realized that they too, had to respond to His call. Struggling with too little time and too many commitments, we tend to put it on a list of things that we would like to do someday – when we have more free time to do it. Or, alternatively we think that we are too ordinary to carry out the Great Commission.

God’s agenda is to use ordinary people who would work behind the scenes, who could duplicate and multiply themselves in others – people just like you and me.

Jesus called his first twelve disciples as ordinary people and used them in extraordinary ways. Can you imagine what will happen when ‘ordinary people’ respond to the mission of Jesus and start to reach out, connect, share and teach those around them, in the places where He has placed them. Thousands of people if not millions can be impacted and reached for Jesus. The potential is enormous, if only we would accept our mission and trust God to do the impossible. God wants to use you and He is waiting for you to respond.

Are you ready to take the first step to discover what God has in store for you?

• Firstly, you must include yourself in the task to take part in the Great Commission.
• Secondly, you must turn to Jesus, follow Him and allow Him to transform you into that person that He wants you to be.
• Thirdly, make a list of all those people, relationships and opportunities that are already in your life.
• Fourthly, Then pray and ask God what you must do and how He wants to accomplish His will through your life.
• Fifthly, obey God’s guidance and instructions.

You will be amazed to see what He can do through you as an ordinary person. You will never regret the decision to be a part of God’s Kingdom work.
