“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”
– Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
Those who follow (Born again Christians) the Lord Jesus do not have to be discouraged or faint-hearted in times of testing, trials, or suffering because God is at work. He is at work in the world at large and also in the specific detail of every person’s life. He has both a purpose (Romans 8:29) and a perfect plan (Romans 8:29) for everything we experience in life. God has something in mind; He is on a mission to redeem a lost world. He wants to reveal and make His Son known to all humankind. God longs for all people to get to know Him more intimately and experience His power to transform them into His image. He is using, us, His children, by continuously calling and sending us out to join and accomplish His purposes. So, when God speaks, it is always with a purpose; it is for our good and His glory (Isaiah 43:7).
It might not feel as if you are moving mountains in your personal life or your Christian walk, but it does not mean that God is not actively at work in and through you. God knows who you are, where you find yourself, and where you are heading. He understands your heart, your thoughts, your life, your struggles, and the challenges you face. He is also aware of how it all fits into His plan, what is necessary to conform you into the image of His Son, how to mold and transform our hearts and character, and what you need to accomplish His task and assignment. God understands our challenges when it comes to hearing Him speak, receiving His Word, and obeying His instructions. He knows that we need to internalize His word to respond to Him and that it might not be so easy at all times. He is working to make us more like His Son; and, His plan will succeed (Ephesian 1: 4-5). So, we can take heart that God is with us and for us (Romans 8:32); Jesus Christ is with us and for us (Romans 8:34); and, the Holy Spirit is with us and for us (Romans 8:26).
Child of God, I do not know what trials, suffering, or hardships you are facing today, but do take comfort in the fact that God is at work in your life to accomplish His purposes, and that all things will work together for your good (Romans 8:28) and His glory. The path that God leads you on might not make sense to you right now, but lean not on your understanding, faithfully obey, and trust in the Lord. God knew that we would have difficulties on earth, and He gave us His Son, Jesus, as an example for us to follow. So, let us take time to stop and look at our lives through the eyes and life of Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for loving me and having a plan for my life. Amen
